This math activity is designed for early 3rd grade level students and stems from the Children’s Book used in the Lesson, Wild Horse Annie: Friend of the Mustangs. Using double hearts, the teacher/parent demonstrates multiples of twos. Students draw one pair of twos which represents 1 x 2= 2; then two pairs of twos (2 x 2 = 4), etc., until they reach 12 pairs of twos (12 x 2 =24). By drawing each successive pair, students will see for themselves that the product increases by a factor of two with each multiple.
